Shtayyeh stated that it is necessary to “mobilize international efforts to end the days-long siege imposed by the occupying authorities on our people in the Shuafat camp in Jerusalem.”

The Palestinian Prime Minister called on the United Nations and the International Red Cross to enter the camp to learn about the extent of the suffering of the refugees inside and to arrange for them to leave the camp and enter freely.

Significantly, Israeli forces have continuously stormed the Shuafat refugee camp and imposed a suffocating siege and hard closure since Saturday evening.

Israeli forces justify this practice by saying that they are looking for Uday al-Tamimi (22), whom they accuse of shooting at a checkpoint near the camp, killing a female soldier and seriously injuring a guard.
