Spanish newspaper El Mundo has revealed the details of Saudi Arabia’s surprising offer to Real Madrid star Karim Benzema of France to join the Saudi league this summer.
Benzema, 35, has a contract with Real Madrid that runs until June next year, and the two sides have yet to reach an agreement to extend their partnership.
Real Madrid are offering Benzema the luxury of competitive football at the highest level and the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League for one more season.
However, given the age of the player, there comes a time when he prefers financial security to sporting success, especially to win.
And El Mundo has confirmed that the Saudi League has made Benzema an attractive offer, which is renewed for two seasons, worth 400 million euros.
The newspaper adds that Saudi Benzema’s offer includes intricate details about financial perks and freedom the French star can enjoy next season.
Among the perks, Benzema can join any club in any city in Saudi Arabia of his choice, in addition, he will be provided with any luxuries he will require during his playing period in Saudi Arabia.
The value of Benzema’s contract will also be tax-free, aside from owning 100 percent of his image rights.
El Mundo indicated that such an offer would tempt any player anywhere in the world.
And she confirmed that Benzema would be an exception if he refused such a lucrative offer in order to stay at Real Madrid.
The French striker is expected to make an official announcement on his future on Sunday, after Real Madrid play their last match of the season.
