Russia’s Willingness for Peace with Kiev: Upholding Rights of Russian-Speaking Ukrainians

Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN: Russia Ready to Live in Peace with Ukraine

Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky confirmed that Moscow is ready to live in peace with Kiev, but will not tolerate violations of the rights of the Russian-speaking part of Ukraine.

Polyansky said: “We still treat Ukrainians as brothers and sisters and are always ready to live in peace, harmony and good neighborliness, as it was before 2014. Contrary to what you may hear from Western and Ukrainian preachers, we have never set ourselves the task of destroying Ukrainian identity, Russifying Ukraine (making Ukraine Russian).

The diplomat stressed that the Russian authorities did not set themselves the task of “Russifying” Ukraine, but they did not and would not tolerate the oppression of the Russian-speaking part of the Ukrainian population, “glorification of Nazi henchmen” and the bombing of Donbass.

Polyansky pointed out that the purpose of the West in conducting a special military operation is to incite the Russian and Ukrainian fraternal peoples, and also to prevent the revival of Russia as a world power.
