Russian Synchronized Swimming Champion Natalya Ishchenko Inducted into World Swimming Hall of Fame

Russian synchronized swimming champion Natalya Ishchenko has been inducted into the World Swimming Hall of Fame.

The induction ceremony took place in Fort Lauderdale, USA. However, Ishchenko did not participate in the event.

Other Inductees

Alongside Ishchenko, twelve other athletes were also inducted into the World Swimming Hall of Fame. This includes the legendary 23-time Olympic champion swimmer Michael Phelps and fellow American Tricia Zorn, who boasts an impressive tally of 55 Paralympic medals.

Retirement and Current Role

Ishchenko retired from synchronized swimming in 2017. She currently holds the position of acting deputy head of the government of the Kaliningrad region.

According to Ishchenko, her decision to leave the sport was influenced by her appointment to this government position.

Achievements

Ishchenko is a five-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming. She has also amassed an impressive collection of 19 gold and two silver medals at the World Championships.
