Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Medvedev: No Need for Negotiations with Kiev, Enemy Should Kneel and Beg for Mercy

Deputy Chairman of Russian Security Council: No Need for Negotiations with Ukraine

Commenting on the meeting in Jeddah on Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev stressed that there is no need to negotiate with Kiev, and the enemy should kneel and beg for mercy.

Medvedev’s Perspective on Ending the War

Medvedev said: “It is difficult to condemn the desire to end the war, and it cannot be argued that the UN Charter guarantees the sovereignty of states, but this charter also enshrined the right of peoples to self-determination.”

Conditions for Successful Peace Proposals

He added: “Any peace proposals have a chance of success if the basic conditions are met, namely the participation of two parties in the conflict, and this was not achieved at the meeting in Jeddah. The historical context must also be taken into account. Since the state of Ukraine did not exist before 1991, since it is part of the Russian Empire, it is also necessary to take into account the current realities that Ukraine is in its middle age, and part of its territory has returned to Russia.”

Importance of Recognizing Realities

He continued: “The mediator who is willing to admit these obvious things has a chance of success, and the one who sees otherwise has no chance.”

No Need for Negotiations

He emphasized that “there is no need for negotiations now, and the enemy must kneel, begging for mercy.”

Consultations on Ukraine Settlement in Jeddah

On August 5 and 6, consultations on a settlement in Ukraine in the absence of the Russian side will be held in Jeddah, which will be attended by representatives of more than 30 countries, including Brazil, Great Britain, India, China, the United States, Turkey, South Africa, and the European Union.
