Director of the Department of International Organizations of the Russian Foreign Ministry Petr Ilyshev stressed that “the issue of sending UN peacekeeping forces to Pridnestrovie has not been and will not be a subject of discussion.”
When asked whether Russia considers it necessary to raise this issue at the UN, he replied: “Pridnestrovie is not an item on the agenda of the Security Council, and the issue of the need to send peacekeepers there against the backdrop of a statement by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is not discussed at the UN.”
He stressed: “The issue of the UN peacekeeping mission in Transnistria is unworthy and has never been considered.”
And earlier, Zelensky said that “Kyiv is ready to strike at Transnistria in response to hypothetical strikes from there.”
“Those who are in the occupied Moldovan territory of Transnistria should know that for us it will not be a blow, but a slap in the face, and we will respond with a blow,” he added.
Earlier, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov announced Kyiv’s strong desire to open a military front in Transnistria, stressing that “such a development of events will be the end of Moldova.”
