Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Alexander Grushko called the entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO the worst episode in the development of European security.
“NATO expansion and the entry of Finland and Sweden is, in my opinion, one of the most unfortunate events in the development of European security,” he added during a discussion at the Valdai Club.
At the Madrid summit, NATO officially invited Sweden and Finland to join it.
The alliance has also adopted a new strategic concept until 2030, which sees Russia as the main threat to NATO’s security.
