Russian diplomat suggests possibility of deploying EU soldiers to Ukraine after failed counterattack

Acting Russian Ambassador to the European Union Kirill Logvinov confirmed that sending soldiers from the European Union to Ukraine is not ruled out if Kiev fails to counterattack.

Logvinov said in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper that the idea of a hypothetical entry of EU forces into Ukraine is to “weaken Russia by proxy.”

He stressed that “under conditions when the leadership of the European Union, contrary to the principles of European integration, will go for a long-term militarization of the economy, nothing can be ruled out.”

He pointed out that talk of any restoration of relations between Russia and the European Union is currently excluded.

He considered the main condition for the future dialogue to be the refusal of the Union and its member states from Russia’s “declared total war” in trade, economic, foreign policy, information and other spheres.
