The Head of Rosatom Warns of Ukrainian Attacks on Russian Nuclear Infrastructure

The head of the Russian company Rosatom warned of Ukrainian attacks on Russian nuclear infrastructure facilities, which are still the targets of Ukrainian strikes.

“Nuclear infrastructure continues to be a target of the Kyiv authorities, and this is very worrying,” said Alexei Likhachev, head of Rosatom.

Likhachev hoped to ensure the complete safety of the nuclear power plant through cooperation with the authorities of the Zaporozhye region and the International Atomic Energy Agency.

He also praised the efforts and sacrifices made by the soldiers of the Russian troops and border guards in countering the Ukrainian attacks and the tense situation in Energodar.

Threats to Zaporozhye NPP Employees and Tensions in the Region

He stressed that employees of the Zaporozhye NPP receive many threats, as well as tension around the region and Energodar.

At the end of February 2022, Russian troops took control of the facility, and since then, units of the Ukrainian army have periodically bombed residential areas of the city of Energodar and the nuclear power plant area, using drones and heavy artillery projectiles and rocket launchers.
