On the sidelines of the 67th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Russian company Rosatom and the Algerian Atomic Energy Authority signed a memorandum of understanding on the implementation of joint projects in the field of nuclear medicine.

On the sidelines of the sixty-seventh General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in the Austrian capital Vienna, a ceremony was held to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Russian company Rosatom and the Algerian Atomic Energy Authority.

The document was signed by Boris Arsev, deputy head of the international business department of the state company Rosatom, and Abdelhamid Mellah, manager of the nuclear energy industry of Algeria.

The parties agreed to implement joint cooperation projects in the field of application of non-power nuclear technologies in the field of healthcare and the development of nuclear medicine in Algeria.

Regarding the establishment of nuclear medicine centers in Algeria, the body responsible for cooperation with the partner will be the Department of Health Technologies of Rosatom in Russia, combining the experience of the Russian company in the field of medicine.

Rosatom’s Comprehensive Approach to Healthcare

Boris Arseev noted: “Rosatom takes a comprehensive approach to the implementation of its tasks in the field of healthcare, since our work in this direction includes: isotope complex and production of radiopharmaceuticals, production of high-tech medical equipment, materials processing, medical equipment and food products with ionizing radiation, construction of “Nuclear Medicine Centers. Strengthening Cooperation in Nuclear Energy

It is noteworthy that Algerian Minister of Energy and Mining Industry Mohamed Arkab received in July last year the director of the Rosatom Regional Center for the Middle East and North Africa, Alexander Voronkov, with whom he discussed ways to intensify cooperation between the two parties in the field. nuclear energy.
