Russia is ready to help Cuba put out a fire at an oil depot

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that Moscow is ready to provide assistance to Havana, which asked for international assistance after a large-scale fire broke out in the Cuban province of Matanzas.

Commenting on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Zakharova wrote: “On August 5, as a result of a lightning strike on an oil storage facility in the Cuban province of Matanzas, where about 25,000 cubic meters of oil is located, a major fire broke out. went out, and, despite the colossal efforts of fire brigades, the flames spread to a neighboring tank and several explosions thundered in the area. .

According to official data, there are dead and missing, dozens of wounded who received burns of varying severity, about two thousand people were evacuated from the accident zone. El Arnat Cruz, Minister of Energy and Mining of Cuba, was among those affected.

The Russian Foreign Ministry specified that “Cuba has requested international assistance to counter the elements, and the Russian Foreign Ministry and relevant departments are in constant contact with the Cuban side to agree on possible joint actions and provide the necessary assistance.”
