Russia bans trucks from companies from unfriendly countries from crossing its territory

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin issued a decree banning the entry and transit of trucks of companies registered in the European Union, Norway, Ukraine and the UK.

According to the decision, which came into force today, on Monday, this measure was a response to similar restrictions imposed by these countries on Russian shipping.

The Russian ban will last until December 31 and will cover direct traffic between Russia and the sanctioned countries or through Russia to one of them.

The Russian ban covers a list of goods, including food, finished products, ingredients and some non-food items.

Meat, fish, milk, some vegetables, sweets, cocoa, legumes, alcohol, fertilizers, pharmaceutical products, paper and cardboard, watches, musical instruments and movie recorders are also exempt.

In order to avoid Russian sanctions, companies from non-friendly countries can unload their cargo at the Russian border, load it onto Russian trucks or registered in Russia-friendly countries, transport it to the desired side of the border, leave Russia after unloading and are loaded on trucks that follow the path to the place destination.

The Ministry of Transport of Russia indicated that unloading and transshipment are limited to the Pskov, Kaliningrad, Leningrad, Murmansk, Karelia and St. Petersburg regions.
