Russian Ambassador to Cairo Georgy Borisenko said that Russia and Egypt are conducting intensive consultations on the transition to national currencies in settlements in mutual trade.
“Since the spring of 2022, intensive consultations have been underway on the issues of converting into national currencies in settlements in mutual trade,” Borisenko added.
The ambassador stressed that such a shift “will help to avoid the arbitrariness of Western countries using their currencies for geopolitical purposes.”
The Russian ambassador continued: “We proceed from the fact that it is necessary to move faster along the path of de-dollarization of foreign trade relations and economic relations in general.”
