Russia and China Present a Positive Alternative to Western Dominance, says Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia and China offer the international community a constructive alternative to the policy of Western hegemony and work together to create conditions for a multipolar world order.

In a video message to the participants of the eighth international conference “Russia and China: Cooperation in a New Era”, organized by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, Lavrov added: “Moscow and Beijing offer a constructive alternative to Western policy, without saying that they are working together to create conditions for a multipolar world order that takes into account the interests of all countries and respects the cultural and civilizational identity of all peoples.

Lavrov pointed out that the Ukrainian problem, the Taiwan issue and human rights are not a reason, but a pretext to justify the actions of Washington and its affiliated countries directed against Russia and China.

He continued: The current stage is a turning point in global development. Russia and China are facing strong pressure from the collective West, led by the United States, in the face of unprecedented in scale and depth of illegal financial and economic sanctions that go beyond the scope of the UN Security Council.

Lavrov stressed that “the ruling circles of the West see the sovereign path of Russia and China as an obstacle to their global hegemony based on military-political diktat, financial, economic and technological monopoly.”
