Qatari official reveals expected 2022 World Cup revenues

Nasser Al Khater, CEO of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, said the World Cup will generate around $6 billion in revenue, according to estimates by the International Football Association (FIFA).

The official noted that Qatar’s victory 12 years ago with the right to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup was a catalyst for the development of Qatar’s infrastructure, especially various sports venues.

Al-Khater said: “The amendment on the opening date of the 2022 FIFA World Cup was made by consensus among all parties concerned and approved by the International Federation Council after it received great support and approval from the teams of Qatar and Ecuador. two sides of the opening match.

FIFA agreed to move the start of the World Cup competitions by one day to begin on 20 November after they were scheduled for the 21st of the same month.

Al-Khater denied rumors about the high cost of accommodation during the World Cup, saying that “there are hotel rooms that cost no more than $80 (292 Qatari riyals) per night, and there are other luxury accommodations that cost five thousand and 478 dollars (20 thousand rials) per night, and each of He is looking for a price that suits him, and he will find it.

Regarding ticket sales for the World Cup, he said: “The turnout was large, which surprised the FIFA officials.”

He stated that “tickets for the match between Mexico and Argentina were the highest in terms of sales, followed by the match between Saudi Arabia and Argentina in second place, and tickets for two matches were sold out.”

From November 20 to December 18, Qatar will host the FIFA World Cup, and Qatar will be the first country in the Arab region and the Middle East to host such an event.
