Former Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl tweeted a satirical photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin receiving an EU delegation in Sochi in 2023.
This painting is Vladimir Serov’s “Guests at Lenin’s”, in which President Putin appears instead of Lenin, talking to the visitors. Under the photo, the former minister wrote the following phrase in Russian: “February 2023. Putin receives EU delegation in Sochi.
“One day the time will come for diplomacy and real negotiations,” Kneissl wrote.
Earlier, The Washington Post reported that Kneissl left her country due to numerous threats against her.
In letters to a Washington Post reporter, Kneissl stated that she did not give interviews and emigrated from Austria due to death threats.
Knisl left her post on the board of directors of the Russian company Rosneft on May 20, where she served as an independent director. Former German chancellor Gerhard Schröder and Matthias Warnig also made similar decisions while holding the offices of president and vice president.
