Putin and Ramaphosa confer on arrangements for BRICS summit in South Africa

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that preparations for the BRICS summit were included in the agenda of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Peskov told reporters today, Wednesday: “Issues of preparation for the next summit were on the agenda. They are still being discussed.”

On June 17, a delegation of African leaders visited St. Petersburg for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Putin also held a separate meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

In August next year, South Africa will host the BRICS summit, to which Putin was invited. Fikile Mbalula, secretary general of the ruling African National Congress party in South Africa, said today, Wednesday, that his country is waiting for the visit of the Russian president.
