Pushkov: One German decision "Noon" Relations with Russia

Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov said that Germany’s refusal to supply it with Russian gas through the Nord Stream gas pipeline caused a “big gap” in relations between Russia and Europe.

Pushkov added that “Germany broke the back of the established relationship by refusing to supply it with Russian gas via Nord Stream.

The Russian parliamentarian pointed out that the bombing of the Nord Stream gas pipeline killed even the theoretical possibility of resuming Russian supplies to Germany.

He said: “Gas supplies served as the basis for a special relationship between Moscow and Berlin even during the Cold War. Of course, the cessation of Russian gas supplies goes back to the period that preceded the famous gas pipeline agreement between the Soviet Union. and West Germany in the era of Brezhnev and Brandt more than 50 years ago.

It is noteworthy that Nord Stream 2 stretches from the coast of Russia along the bottom of the Baltic Sea to Germany and consists of two lines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year. The construction of the line was completed in September 2021, but it was not put into operation by the decision of the German government after Russia recognized the independence of the Luhansk and Donetsk republics.

At the end of September, both lines of the Nord Stream were bombed simultaneously.
