"Politico"Six largest European countries have not committed to continue arming Ukraine

The American newspaper “Politico” reported that the 6 largest European countries did not take on new obligations to provide weapons and military assistance to Ukraine in July last year.

The newspaper indicated, based on data from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in Germany, that this was the first time this had happened since the conflict in Ukraine began in February last year.

“This indicates that, despite the historic change in European defense policy, when France and Germany unwittingly began to supply weapons to Ukraine, military assistance to Kyiv can be reduced at the moment when Kyiv announces a decisive counter-offensive,” the message says.

Christoph Trebisch, director of research at the aforementioned institute, said that since the end of April, the volume of military aid to Ukraine began to decline.

“Although the fighting has entered a critical phase, new support initiatives have been exhausted,” he added.

Analysts note that major European countries are not catching up with the United States, Great Britain and Poland in providing military assistance to Ukraine.
