Oil Pipeline Leak Causes Suspension of Pumping in Poland

The company operating the Polish section of the Russian Druzhba oil pipeline announced the suspension of pumping through one of the two branches of the oil pipeline from Russia to Germany, after oil leaked from it on Polish territory.

Leak Detected in Druzhba Pipeline

The company said in a statement: “On Saturday evening, PERN automation systems detected a leak in the Druzhba pipeline in the Khodyshsky district, one of the two branches of the western section, which brings oil to Germany. The affected part was immediately stopped.

No Danger to Local Population

She pointed out that the second line of the oil pipeline is operating without changes, there is no danger to the life and health of the local population.

Investigation Underway

PERN government fire and emergency services are on site. The causes of the accident are still being investigated.

About the Druzhba Pipeline

The Drogba line, opened in 1964, is one of the most complex oil pipeline networks in the world, with a length of more than 6,000 km, and its northern part passes through the lands of Belarus, Poland and Germany, and the southern part passes through the lands of Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary.
