Late in January, Apple released macOS 13.2, which included many bug updates and support for new Security Keys for the Apple ID feature. Unfortunately, after installing the update, consumers have reported that their Pioneer disc drives are no longer recognized by their Macs. Over the past two weeks, complaints about the problem have appeared on the Reddit, Twitter, Apple Support Community, and other websites.

The basic cause of the problem has yet to be established. Pioneer has, however, acknowledged the issue on its website and is looking into it.

On Pioneer’s optical drive product descriptions, it states, “We have confirmed that our optical drives are not recognized by macOS Ventura 13.2 issued by Apple on January 23, 2023.” “We are looking into this symptom right now. We kindly request that users of our optical drives hold off on updating to macOS Ventura 13.2.”
