Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that work is underway to develop equivalent options for reconnecting Rosselkhozbank Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT system.
Peskov indicated that there is hope to achieve this after the extension of the grain deal for two new months. He added: “Based on this, such a decision was made to extend (the grain deal) for two months. It is very important that everyone understands that the fate of the deal is still in the hands of those with whom the UN must agree to the implementation of the Russian part of the agreement. It’s done. “We pass a certain section of the path, but not to the end. We will try to solve this problem to the end in the next 60 days.”
Peskov stressed that negotiations to resolve the issue of the supply of Russian ammonia after the extension of the grain deal are still ongoing.
On July 22, 2022, a package of documents was signed in Istanbul for the supply of food and fertilizers to the international market. Initially, the agreements were concluded for a period of 120 days, and in November last year they were extended for the same period. On March 18 this year, Russia announced the extension of the deal for 60 days. The Russian side has repeatedly indicated that any further decision to extend the deal depends on the implementation of the Russian part of the agreement, warning that the lack of progress on this issue jeopardizes the fate of the initiative.
