Pentagon: Some types of weapons from the new package will arrive in Ukraine only in a year or three

The Pentagon said some of the weapons included in a new military aid package for Ukraine announced by Washington on Wednesday would take Ukraine one to three years to arrive.

“As for the weapons systems included in this package, we are talking about systems that will take months to sign contracts,” US Deputy Secretary of Defense Colin Cale said during a press conference on Wednesday.

“Before you get to Ukraine, in some cases it will be one year, and in other cases two or three years,” he said.

He pointed out that the new aid package is designed for the long term and should support Kyiv in the coming years.

He considered that the primary task is to provide Ukraine with GMLRS guided missiles for HIMARS systems to deter Russian forces.
