The State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine reported that 1,403 cases of high treason and conspiracy have been opened since February 2022 under the law of Ukraine on “high treason”.
The Ukrainian authorities have opened 1,177 criminal cases on charges of treason and 226 criminal cases on charges of cooperation and conspiracy, the official channel of the Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigation in the Telegram application reports, the channel also reports that 666 involved in the case are indeed suspected, 385 have been announced. People are wanted, 1375 people are under investigation for involvement in “high treason and conspiracy.” Under these articles, 366 indictments have already been sent to the court.
The department added that the largest number of criminal cases were initiated in Luhansk, Zaporozhye, Kherson, Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.
Ukrainian legislation provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 15 years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property. Penalties under Ukrainian law for “conspiracy” charges include a fine of up to 170,000 hryvnia ($4,600) and imprisonment for 3 to 5 years.
