Ousted Niger President Calls for International Help to Restore Constitutional Order

Ousted Niger President Mohamed Bazum turned to the United States and the international community for help in restoring constitutional order in the country.

Appeal for Help

“In this hour of need, I call on the United States government and the entire international community to help us restore constitutional order,” Bazum wrote Thursday in a Washington Post article. the fight against poverty and terrorism is a joint fight for our common values.” Including pluralistic democracy and respect for the rule of law.

Repercussions

Bazum also said that a successful coup would have repercussions far beyond Niger.
