Neymar slapped with $3.3 million fine

Brazilian authorities have fined Neymar, the star of French football team Paris Saint-Germain, for violating environmental laws when he built an artificial lake in his mansion by the sea.

Neymar’s residence is located in the town of Mangaratiba on the south coast of the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro.

The Mangaratiba Environmental Protection Authority said in a statement that environmental violations occurred during the construction of an artificial lake in the palace.

Neymar has been fined $3.3 million for building a lake at his mansion on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro without an environmental permit, local authorities said on Monday.

And the municipal council in Mangaratiba imposed four fines for “environmental violations related to the construction of an artificial lake in the player’s palace,” according to the secretariat of the council.

In addition to the fine, the case will be investigated by the local attorney general’s office, state civil police and the Environmental Protection Bureau, and other oversight agencies.
