Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has admitted he was confident of achieving the title of Liverpool’s historic scorer in the English Premier League from the start of his Reds career, scoring 31 goals in his first season.
Mohamed Salah has scored 127 goals in 205 Premier League appearances for Liverpool and is just one goal away from equaling Robbie Fowler, the Reds’ historic Premier League goalscorer with 128 goals in 266 games.
Salah said in a statement to the Liverpool Echo: “I’m aware of the numbers, especially those numbers, it’s a special case for me.”
He added: “When I came here in my first season I had 31 goals and I wanted to be Liverpool’s historic scorer in the Premier League… Of course I would be happy to achieve that… of the most important records I try beat Liverpool.
And he continued: “I have a good performance at Liverpool, and as long as we achieve something together with the team, this is the most important thing for me.”
He concluded: “Happy and proud to be setting records and winning titles with Liverpool. I don’t want to be on a smaller team and be the only one that beats the numbers.”
And he continued: “Liverpool’s historical top scorer in the English Premier League? Of course I will be happy. It’s one of the most important records I’m trying to break with Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah has the opportunity to fulfill his dream during the match against the guest of Manchester United, tonight, Sunday, at Anfield Stadium, as part of the 26th round of the English Premier League.
