French prosecutors announced the death of a Sudanese immigrant today, Wednesday, near the French city of Calais after he was hit by a heavy truck as he tried to board it to reach the UK.
Boulogne-sur-Mer prosecutor Herrick Lubra said the 26-year-old man tried to get into the truck while it was moving, but fell, was hit by a car and continued on his way.
He explained that the young man had died from his injuries and that forensic medical examinations were being carried out to ascertain the exact cause of death.
According to Agence France Presse, the Calais police station is in charge of the investigation, and a search is underway to identify the driver of the truck with the trailer, who continued on his way after the accident.
It should be noted that another immigrant was killed last May 10 after being hit by a truck on the ring road of the port of Calais.
