Mercato’s Most Expensive Summer Deals.. Manchester United Enter Brazilian Anthony

Manchester United have announced that they have reached a definitive agreement with Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam to sign Brazilian player Anthony during this summer’s transfer market.

And Manchester United said today, Tuesday, in a statement on their official website: “Manchester United has reached an agreement with Ajax to sign Anthony on the condition that the player’s medical and personal effects are completed and an international permission”.

According to press reports, the contract value of Anthony Matthews dos Santos, known as “Anthony”, was about 100 million euros, including more than 4 million bonuses.

Anthony will play again under Dutch coach Erik Ten Hag, who moved from Ajax Amsterdam to Manchester United this summer and asked the club to sign the Brazilian.

Anthony, 22, scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists in 33 appearances in various competitions for Ajax Amsterdam last season to help Ajax win the Eredivisie title for the third consecutive season.

The Brazilian player also helped his Dutch side reach the top eight of the Champions League final last season.

In total, Anthony scored 31 goals and gave 27 assists in 134 matches that he played for Ajax, and before him for the Brazilian São Paulo.

Anthony participated in 9 matches with the Brazilian national team and scored two goals, and also led the Olympic team to win the gold medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Notably, Anthony is Manchester United’s fifth deal this summer’s Mercato, following the free signing of Dane Christian Eriksen, Dutchman Tyrell Malasia from Dutch side Feyenoord, Argentine Lisandro Martinez from Ajax Amsterdam and Brazil’s Casemiro from Real Madrid.
