Man sets himself on fire outside Japanese prime minister’s office

Local media reported that a man was taken to a hospital in Tokyo unconscious after setting himself on fire outside the office of Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Wednesday morning.

Various media outlets, including TV Asahi and the Yomiuri Shimbun, said the man had signaled his opposition to plans for a state funeral for slain former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Police and the prime minister’s office declined to comment on the reports.
