Lebanese chess champion refuses to play against Israeli

Lebanese chess champion Nadia Qasem Fawaz has withdrawn from the fourth round of the Abu Dhabi International Open Games Festival after refusing to face Israeli Elijah Grosman.

According to the Lebanese Chess Federation, Nadya has played three matches so far, the first with a Brunei player and Wafa Yacoub, and won them, as well as beat Saudi Ziad Saleh Al-Abdali and Emirati Wafia. Darwish Al-Mamari before leaving the game in front of an Israeli player.

In the fifth round, she lost to the Indian Sadpaf Rotila, and there were 4 rounds left in the competition.

The UAE International Festival has players from 36 countries including Lebanon, however the competition which was launched according to the classification of the players resulted in them being placed in the fourth round with an Israeli player so they withdrew from further action to prevent any or normalization. and in support of the Palestinian cause, and withdrew from the round.

Similarly, Lebanese fighter Sharbel Abu Daher withdrew from the World Junior Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championships currently being held in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi a few days ago after refusing to confront the Israeli player.
