"Le Figaro": French army soldiers are starving, suffering from frost and bedbugs in Romania.

The Le Figaro newspaper, referring to parliamentarians, reported that the French forces in the mission to secure the eastern flank of NATO are in very difficult conditions, as they suffer from starvation, frost and bedbugs in Romania.

“They are given little food, tents are not always heated, they suffer from poor sanitation and are plagued by bedbugs,” the newspaper reported, citing French lawmakers.

“Our soldiers are freezing and starving,” the deputies said, criticizing the conditions in which the French army stationed in Romania lives.

The newspaper indicated that 350 French soldiers were stationed there, and 12 more tanks and armored personnel carriers would be sent to them in the coming weeks.

This mission was launched on February 28 in response to the Russian military operation in Ukraine, and its goal is to strengthen the eastern flank of NATO.

But, according to the deputies, France faced a serious problem in terms of logistics and provision, and they pointed out that the food of the French army in Romania is very poor, and the sanitary conditions are also bad.

“This was a defensive deterrence mission, not a combat one, so simplicity is out of the question,” the deputies added, while wondering what message Russia would receive if French soldiers lived in such conditions.

The deputies threatened to report the situation to the head of the Defense Committee of the French Parliament.
