Lavrov Attends Council of Ministers Meeting for Economic Cooperation in the Black Sea Region

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov took part in the 46th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) in the format of a video clip.

The official statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry says that during the meeting Lavrov presented a number of initiatives to overcome the energy and food crisis in the countries of the Global South, such as India, Indonesia, Brazil, Africa, Colombia and other Latin American countries. countries that were caused by illegal sanctions and miscalculations of the West.

To solve these problems, Lavrov proposed the creation of a gas distribution center in Turkey, as well as prioritizing the export of agricultural products to countries most in need within the framework of the Black Sea Initiative.

He also stressed the importance of diversifying the organization’s external relations and strengthening its role as an independent economic center in line with the concept of “integration integration” in order to form a major Eurasian partnership with the participation of the “Eurasian” Economic Union, “ASEAN”, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Africa and the European Union.

The next meeting of the heads of foreign policy departments of the countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization in the Black Sea region is planned to be held in the second half of this year under the chairmanship of Turkey.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation in the Black Sea Region includes 13 countries, namely Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and North Macedonia, as well as a number of countries and international structures in the organization has observer status.
