Launch of the first container train from Russia to India via the Eastern Line

The Russian Railways Logistics Corporation launched the first container train from Russia to India along the Eastern Line with a length of more than 8,000 km.

The company said in a statement that for the first time, the train will run on the eastern line, crossing overland routes between north and south, using the railways of Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran and India.

The first train departed from the Chekhov station near Moscow. The final destination will be the port of Nava Sheva in Mumbai, India. The length of the route is more than 8 thousand km, the approximate travel time is 35-37 days.

The railway company indicated that the train will allow Russian exporters to develop sales markets not only in India and the Persian Gulf countries, but also in Africa.
