Landslides in northeast India kill 14 people, 30 missing

Heavy rains have again triggered landslides in northeast India, killing at least 14 people and leaving more than 30 missing on Thursday.

Disaster response teams, police and local residents are working to rescue those trapped under rubble in the town of Noni near Imphal, the capital of Manipur state.

He said that. Beren Singh, the state’s chief minister, said all of the confirmed dead were state volunteer soldiers, adding that five Indian railway workers were among the missing.

There is a project to lay a railroad in the area where the collapse occurred, and army units provided security for the railroad workers controlling the project in light of the uprising of the locals against the project.
