Kyiv broke with Moscow the agreement on fishing in the Sea of ​​Azov

The State Agency for Land Reclamation and Fisheries of Ukraine announced the termination of the agreement with Russia on fishing in the Sea of ​​Azov, according to a statement published today on the Russian website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The statement of the Ukrainian agency says: “Over the past years, the State Fishery has repeatedly raised the issue of the possibility of terminating this agreement, however, there were bureaucratic obstacles and a set of international treaties of Ukraine regulating the use of the Sea of ​​Azov and the Kerch Strait did not allow such a deal to be implemented. intentions, without negative consequences for the economy and food security of Ukraine, as well as for fishermen in the Azov region. Now relations between Ukraine and Russia on fisheries have been regulated.”

She noted that this Convention has been in force since 1993 and is an instrument for implementing the provisions of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea in the field of ensuring the rational use of aquatic biological resources in the Sea of ​​Azov basin.
