Jordanian Football Clubs Suspend Participation in League Matches
Jordanian football clubs recorded an unprecedented position by implementing the decision to suspend participation in the league and not play matches in the sixth stage, the latest being Al Wahdat vs Al Shabab and Ma’an vs Al Salta on Saturday.
Demands of the Clubs
The clubs decided to suspend participation in the league until the Jordan Football Association fulfills their demands, most notably the payment of JD200,000 to each club and the search for an official sponsor for the professional club championships for the current 2023-2024 season.
Meeting at Al-Faisaly Headquarters
Agence France-Presse quoted a close source as saying that Jordan Pro League clubs will meet tomorrow, Sunday, at the club’s Al-Faisaly headquarters to discuss the latest developments regarding what is happening, and the local game federation has confirmed that its executive director Authority will hold a meeting under the leadership of Prince Ali bin Al Hussein and in the presence of all its leaders to discuss the strategic plan for Jordanian football for the next five years (2023-2028).
Al Ittihad’s Silence
In news published on its website, Al Ittihad avoided discussing the issue of suspending the clubs’ participation in the league and did not mention the issue at all.
Focus on Strategy and Development
According to the federation, the meeting included extensive discussion of the main areas of strategy, especially national teams, age groups, and the development of local championships, as well as improving infrastructure, empowering clubs, as well as achieving the marketing aspect and improving public interaction.
He added: “By developing its strategic plan and defining its main goals for the coming years, the Union, for the first time, looks to focus its efforts and the work of its staff, committees, and various pillars of the system and partners to achieve quality goals over a period of time and in accordance with a consistent work mechanism that is subject to continuous monitoring and evaluation on a regular basis, with the aim of achieving the aspirations of the entire Jordanian football family.”
