Jewish media reported that Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said the United States and Israel “do not necessarily agree” on the need for a real military threat to Iran.
The Times of Israel reported that Yair Lapid said on Sunday that the United States and Israel “do not necessarily agree” on the need for a credible military threat against Iran during talks with US President Joe Biden in Jerusalem last week.
During a closed Israeli cabinet meeting on Sunday, Lapid explained, “We came and asked for a real military threat during President Biden’s visit,” Hebrew channel 13 reported.
Lapid added: “We want the basis for negotiations with Iran for world power to be a real military threat. We did not agree on this with the Americans.”
Earlier in the meeting, Lapid said he “made it clear to the US President and his team that Israel opposes the nuclear deal and reserves a free hand, both diplomatic and practical, in opposing Iran’s nuclear program.”
