Japan introduces new sanctions against Russian companies

Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Industry and Trade said in a list released Monday that Tokyo authorities have imposed sanctions on 20 Russian companies and only one individual.

“As part of the international efforts undertaken against the backdrop of the situation in Ukraine and taking into account the measures taken by leading countries, Japan is introducing measures to ban exports and other transactions with individual companies. As of September 26, these measures will include 20 enterprises and one person,” the Japanese ministry said in a statement.

New Japanese measures include Mashpriborintorg, Inteko, Italon, Inegria, Salyut, and others. Thus, the number of Russian enterprises affected by Japanese sanctions since the start of hostilities in Ukraine is 287. .

According to the new decision, Japan also banned the export of goods “related to chemical weapons” to Russia. Prior to this, the Japanese ban included the export of trucks, dump trucks, bulldozers and luxury goods, including luxury cars, expensive alcohol, cosmetics and leather goods. It also bans the export of high-tech oil refining equipment, quantum computers and their components, electron microscopes, atomic force microscopes, 3D printers and materials for them, among other things.

Japan also banned the import of certain types of wood, vodka and other goods from Russia.
