Japan. 17,000 chickens killed by bird flu

According to Japan’s Kyodo news agency, authorities in northeast Japan’s Fukushima prefecture have decided to destroy about 17,000 chickens at a local farm in connection with the discovery of the bird flu virus.

The authorities have also decided to impose a ban on the movement of animals within a 10-kilometer zone around the farm where the virus was found in order to prevent the spread of the infection.

It should be noted that several avian influenza virus outbreaks have recently been detected in Japan in the north, northeast, west and east of the country, where a total of more than two million chickens have been culled.
