It’s official.. Manchester United signed Martinez from Ajax

Manchester United have spent $58 million to acquire Argentine international defender Lisandro Martinez from Ajax Amsterdam, the latter announced on Wednesday.

Ajax have confirmed they have reached an agreement with United for a transfer fee of $58.2m, including variables, as the deal could rise to €67.37m, a record deal for an Eredivisie player.

For his part, United sporting director John Murtaugh welcomed the arrival of Martinez, who won the Copa América with his country in 2021, stating: “Lisandro is a wonderful player who will bring more quality and experience to manager Eric (Ten Hag).” squad.”

Martinez, who started his career at Argentine club Newell’s Old Boys and moved to fellow countryman Devens & Justicia, was United’s third signing this summer after Dutch defender Terrell Malasia and Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen.
