Italy. Muslim immigrants outnumber 29% of foreigners

An Italian immigration report found that Muslims make up over 29% of foreigners living in the country.

A new immigration report prepared by Caritas and the Migrant Foundation of the Italian Bishops’ Council and presented in Rome on Friday states that “Taking into account also the religious affiliation of the palace, it is assumed that foreign Muslim citizens living in Italy before January 1, 2022: 1.5 million people, or 29.5% of the total number of foreign citizens.

The report indicated that their number increased compared to last year, when there were less than 1.4 million, and by 27.1%.

The 31st edition of the report states that the majority of these migrants are Moroccans, Albanians, Bengalis, Pakistanis, Senegalese, Egyptians and Tunisians.

By contrast, the number of foreign Christian nationals living in Italy has fallen to less than 2.8 million, compared with about 2.9 million last year.
