Israeli prisoner held by Lugansk authorities: Ukrainian army took people from the street to fight

The authorities of the Lugansk People’s Republic, as a gesture of goodwill, released the Israeli Volodymyr Kozlovsky, who was previously drafted into the Ukrainian army and captured near Lishchansk.

Kozlovsky, a citizen of Ukraine and Israel, was captured near Lishchansk as part of a reconnaissance officer of the 5th battalion of the 24th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to Kozlovsky, he was drafted into the Ukrainian army when he was at the border, trying to leave for Israel to join his family.

“I can’t believe that all this will end,” Kozlovsky said. “I stayed here for two months and a week. I was met from the Jewish community (on the border with Russia), and from there they put me on a plane.”

According to him, he does not plan to visit Ukraine in the near future, as he wants to get to his family in Israel as soon as possible. Kozlovsky explained that among the prisoners there are many people recruited into the Ukrainian army “from the street”.

“I didn’t see prisoners being treated badly, although I saw a lot of prisoners. They treated me very well. The situation is humanitarian, understanding. They know that people were taken from the street (to the Ukrainian army),” Kozlovsky. said.

According to a Novosti Agency correspondent, the former Ukrainian serviceman was handed over to the border with Russia on Wednesday, from where he will go to Israel.
