Iranian Ambassador: We are ready to simplify the issuance of visas to Russians

Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali announced his country’s readiness to simplify the issuance of individual visas to Russian tourists on a reciprocal basis with the Russian Federation.

In an interview with Izvestiya newspaper, Ambassador Jalali said: “The simplification of issuing visas for group tourist trips is one of the items on the agenda that the embassy is currently working on. In addition, we are ready to simplify individual visas for tourists on the basis of reciprocity.”

Notably, in September last year, the head of the Department of Marketing and Tourism Development at the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Layla Ajdari, said that Tehran and Moscow would work to abolish mass entry visas for their tourists in January 2023.

In 2017, the foreign ministers of Russia and Iran signed an agreement between the governments of the two countries on the abolition of group visas for citizens of the two countries.

Then, in 2018, the agreement was supposed to come into force, but in June 2021, the draft of this agreement was again signed between the relevant departments, but was not implemented.
