Iran aims to leverage its membership in the Shanghai Organization for mutual benefits

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahyan said that Iran, as the ninth member of the Shanghai Organization, is committed to expanding cooperation, achieving goals and fully enjoying the benefits of this membership.

After Tehran joined the organization, Abdollahyan posted a tweet on Twitter, in which he indicated that “the active diplomacy of the government of Ibrahim Raisi recorded a new achievement of the great Iranian people, having achieved full membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization”, believing that “this step is important for holding a comprehensive foreign policy to promote the neighborhood policy and look towards Asia.

He emphasized that “Iran, as the ninth member of this organization, is committed to expanding cooperation, achieving goals and fully enjoying the benefits of this membership”, noting that “multilateralism is the basic strategy of leading countries in the development of international relations and international cooperation.”

“The joint efforts of the government and parliament to approve various Shanghai documents is a reason for gratitude,” he said.
