Investor confidence in the German economy is at its lowest level since 2008.

The index of investor confidence in the German economy fell in August to (minus) 55.3 points after it was at the level of – (minus) 53.8 points in July last year.

This is stated in the report of the Center for European Economic Research (ZEW), published on Tuesday.

Analysts polled by the DailyFX portal had expected the index to be at – (minus) 53.8 points.

For comparison, in November 2008 the indicator was at the level of – (minus) 53.5 points, and in October of the same year (2008) at the level of – (minus) 63 points.
