Haaland pledges commitment to Real Madrid despite physical absence

Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s top scorer, has sent a message and celebration to Real Madrid ahead of the second leg between them next Wednesday in the Champions League semi-final.

A positive 1-1 draw prevailed in the first leg match between Real Madrid and its guest Manchester City (1-1), which brought them together last Tuesday evening at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in the capital Madrid.

Haaland was “absent” in the first leg as Norway’s giant striker found himself at a lower level than expected in light of the tight control placed on him by Germany’s Antonio Rüdiger, the king’s team defender.

Haaland posted pictures of him from the match on his Twitter account, commenting: “Still in our hands. I can’t wait for the match next week.”

The confrontation between Manchester City and Real Madrid will resume on Wednesday, May 17, but this time at the Al-Ittihad Stadium in Manchester.

Notably, Real Madrid excluded Manchester City from the semi-finals of the last European Champions League by beating the English team 3-1 after extra time in the second leg, which brought them to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, making up for this loss in first leg (3-4) at the Al-Ittihad stadium.

The finalist of the confrontation between Real Madrid and Manchester City will play in the final of the prestigious continental championship of the Champions League, with the winner of the Italian Derby and two Poles of the Milan football club, the Rossoneri Milan and Inter Milan Nerazzurri.

The final match of the tournament is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey.
