The CEO of Alphabet, which owns the Google search engine, said today, Friday, that 12,000 jobs will be cut.
This job cut is the latest shock to the tech sector and comes just days after rival Microsoft announced it would lay off 10,000 employees.
The reduction in the workforce will affect various departments of the company, such as recruiting and some engineering and product teams.
The memo to Google employees said: “Layoffs are happening around the world and will immediately affect employees in the United States.”
