Italian Football Federation Appoints Gianluigi Buffon to New Position in National Team

The Italian Football Federation has announced the appointment of the legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to a new position in the Italian national team.

The Italian federation decided to appoint Buffon as first team manager to assist new coach Luciano Spalletti.

Buffon’s Statement

Buffon said at a press conference: “I am grateful to the president, the Azzurri family and the coach for the trust they have placed in me. My presence here makes me proud, motivates me and makes me a happy person.”

He added: “I’m returning to an environment that I think I know very well, the essence of my role is to make a small contribution to the dynamics that we will experience in the future.”

And when asked if he considers himself Italy’s greatest goalkeeper, he commented: “I’m the last one who can answer and the last one who wants to answer these things. I think Zoff remains a historic goalkeeper for Italy.”
