German Foreign Minister praises the integration of immigrants in Turkey

On Saturday, German Foreign Minister Annaline Beerbock visited organizations supporting women’s rights and solidarity with migrants.

Speaking to the media, Beerbock said Germany supports Turkey’s efforts to integrate and support migrants seeking asylum there.

She praised the way Turkey welcomes the refugees, saying, “People who flee to Turkey are not only taken care of, but also integrated into society. Children not only have the opportunity to learn the language, but also to have fun and play with local children. “

The German minister also met with refugees in the Turkish capital, knowing that there are about 3.7 million Syrians in Turkey who fled the war in their country.

Her comments followed a Friday meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, and tensions arose during a press conference in which both sides exchanged grievances.

Beerbock’s visit to Turkey and her meeting with Cavusoglu came after she held talks with officials in Greece, where a German minister criticized Turkey for its dispute over Greek sovereignty over the islands off its coast.
